Fertility related conditions
In most cases, diagnosis such as: unexplained infertility, recurrent miscarriages, endometriosis, PCOS and ovarian or uterine cysts can be treated successfully with Chinese Medicine.
Regardless of what the western medical diagnosis is, if a couple is experiencing difficulties in conceiving, from a Chinese Medicine point of view there must be an underlying imbalance that needs to be treated.
High FSH, low AMH and Acupuncture
According to Chinese Medicine, high FSH levels indicate deficiency in kidney energy, which is vital in the production of fertile eggs. Similarly to the common knowledge that fertility declines with age, in Chinese Medicine, this kidney energy declines as we get older. Acupuncture nourishes and supports the kidney yin energy, and as a result it can reduce high FSH levels.
FSH is also related to other factors such as the flow of blood in the uterus and the emotional state of a person. Research shows that acupuncture can stabilise FSH levels by correcting the movement of blood in the reproductive area and regulate the hormones related to stress and unbalanced emotions.
Low AMH levels also indicate deficiency in the kidney yin energy of the body. Fertility acupuncture treatments will nourish the kidney yin to enhance fertility, and stimulate energy and blood flow to the ovaries and uterus.
This condition can affect ovarian follicle maturation, progesterone production in the luteal phase of cycle, egg transportation via the fallopian tubes and activate debris-cleaning cells, which may destroy sperm before it can reach the egg. Acupuncture can help by alleviating pain, reducing inflammation and regulating hormones and prostaglandins.
Ovulation related conditions indicate hormonal imbalances. Acupuncture can help by regulating hormones and promoting ovulation.
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
- Hypothalamic anovulation
- Premature menopause
- Resistant ovary syndrome
- Autoimmune oophoritis
- Post-oral contraceptive pill amenorrhoea
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease can disrupt implantation (endometritis) and egg transportation through the fallopian tubes (salpingitis). Acupuncture can help restoring fertility in chronic cases, particularly when the condition has been unresponsive to antibiotics.
Male infertility can be treated with Chinese Medicine, both quality and quantity can be improved with acupuncture. The treatments will also regulate male hormones, enhance immune system, reduce stress, promotes relaxation and improve sexual desire.
